Dr. Katherine Hekman, MD PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, and a practicing vascular surgeon. Dr. Hekman earned her Bachelor’s degree at Johns Hopkins University, followed by her MD and PhD at the University of Chicago. She then completed vascular surgery residency at Northwestern University. Dr. Hekman’s primary research focus is on stem cell-based regenerative medicine for treating vascular disease, including peripheral artery disease and lymphedema. Her clinical research interests also include optimizing the care of venous disease, reducing surgical site infections, and promoting wellness in surgical training.
